Koepfer gear hobbing machines are designed for parts up to 7.677" (195 mm) in diameter and shafts up to 23.622" (600 mm) in length. Koepfer machines also can produce parts with low numbers of teeth as well as parts with extremely high helix angles. All Koepfer machines offer a high speed hob head to utilize carbide tools, and are capable of cutting wet or dry. Koepfer machines offer a small foot print for optimum use of valuable plant space. Automation
High Speed All Koepfer hobbing machines offer high-speed capability. Hob speeds up to 5,000 RPM are possible, making the use of carbide cutters very practical. The work spindle is also capable of reaching high RPM's for efficient cutting of gears with few numbers of teeth. Skiving (Carbide Re-hobbing) Another feature available on all Koepfer machines is skiving -- the automatic carbide re-hobbing of hardened gears. The workpiece and cutter are electronically aligned, and stock is evenly removed from both flanks. This is an excellent process for improving final gear quality without grinding. Koepfer machines successfully skive millions of gears each year worldwide. High Helix Capability Koepfer high helix cutter heads provide 90 degree capability. These heads also provide the necessary clearance between the tailstock and hob head casting when cutting high helix workpieces of small diameter. | ||
